The baby seat in your car dirtier than your toilet?
One of the most important reasons for having a clean baby seat is hygiene. While this typically needs no explanation, it cannot be stressed enough that a dirty baby seat makes your child more prone to disease and illnesses. In addition, dirt contributes to the growth and spread of germs.Scientific studies University of Birmingham took swabs from 20 cars and have found 100 dangerous types of bacteria per sq cm of car seat, including traces of E. coli and salmonella. These results have proved that there are enough bacteria to cause ear infections or sore throats, as well as mould that can affect sufferers of allergies and asthma. By comparison a toilet was found to have only 50 types of bacteria. That means the baby seat is potentially twice as dirty as a toilet! YIKES!
According to the same study, 60% of motorists are unaware of the health risks a dirty seat poses to them and their precious little ones. Additionally people spend, on average, up to 20% of their time inside their cars, so the easiest way to stay safe and avoid health risks is to clean your car regularly, both on the outside and inside.
So what can you do?
Constantly maintaining a clean car baby seat is key to a healthier and happier ride in the car. This not only makes the journey more clean, but also much more pleasant. Isn’t it better to drive in a clean car that smells fresh, with no food smells, vomit and dirty diapers? This can be quite tedious and a lot of work. If you find it hard to squeeze in enough time to do this at home, you can enlist the help of professional detailers who will do the work for you.

Overall, while sanitising the baby seat takes a lot of work, the overall benefits generally outweigh the effort. Sure, you may have to grin and bear having to wash the seat frequently but think positively. It is a given that your child will grow out of having to use the baby seat eventually. But until then, keep scrubbing that seat! My advice is to wash off the grime while it is still fresh. Alternatively give us a call.
